Cloe Sparrow

Cloe Sparrow is an artist, bookbinder and arts educator based in Durham. Her artistic journey is one of relentless exploration; from capturing fleeting moments through painting and drawing en plein air and collaging with print and paper to creating digital animations. Her philosophy encapsulates the belief that art, nature and community are essential for mental and physical well-being. Sparrow strives to refine her own craft whilst also creating spaces where others can discover their artistic potential and build connections.

Sparrow’s exhibition explored the intimate connection between artistic expression and mental health. Through a collection of deeply personal artworks and journal entries, the exhibition explored how art and journaling can promote mental well-being and provide solace in times of struggle. Additionally, an interactive creative space and communal gallery wall allowed visitors to engage directly with the exhibition, providing an experience that highlights the therapeutic benefits of mindful art making.

Curating her first solo show to include works created collaboratively with participants from her community classes and our students IS EMBLEMATIC OF the generous spirit of Cloe’s practice.
