COMMUNITY ART
Durham Sixth Form Centre launched a community arts programme in Spring 2022. The programme offers workshops and classes for all members of the community. These accessible classes have welcomed hundreds of participants through the doors of the Sixth Form Centre. Classes have included ceramics, botanical painting, life drawing, digital art, printmaking and more.
The sessions are designed and led by our artists and designers-in-residence. The programme provides a varied selection of classes with subsidised prices to support access and engagement. Our community art programme is grant funded and has previously been supported by County Durham Community Foundation, the City of Durham Parish Council, Persimmon Community Champions, Believe Housing and Arnold Clark Community Fund.
Classes are hosted in the Visual Arts Centre and Dead Dog Gallery and can be booked online or over the phone.

“It’s been a wonderful experience to develop community focused creative work in the heart of County Durham. Working at the school has really highlighted the value of making art together, as well as showing just how fun it can be. When people find the confidence to try there is no limit to what they can make."
